Mrs. Tapia
My name is Karina Tapia. I am a certified school counselor and a member of the American School Counseling Association. I am going on my seventh year as a school counselor at Wade Carpenter Middle School. I have an MEd with an Emphasis in School Counseling from Prescott College. I also received a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and an Associate's degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. Before coming to WCMS, I was a behavioral and mental health youth recovery coach, direct support, and peer support counselor. I provided individual and group substance abuse, mood management, anger management, and self-image counseling. I am grateful for my experience in providing counseling services to children ages 6 to 17 among our community of Nogales, as I will be able to use this knowledge to help the families of our WCMS community.

Some things I like to do in my spare time are garden, play basketball, and paint.

I hope this provides a little insight into who I am and what I am most passionate about. I am looking forward to getting to know all students and their families this school year.
Ms. Mendez
My name is Miriam Mendez. I am a certified school counselor and a member of the American School Counseling Association. I have a Bachelor of Science in Human Services from the University of Phoenix and a MEd with an Emphasis in School Counseling from Prescott College. I was a case manager for a community health agency for three years where I worked with women and children. I then became a case manager for the TSW Program (Transition from School to Work) and was a special education teacher at Pierson High School for five years. I love being a school counselor and working one on one with students. I enjoy teaching them life skills they can apply throughout their lives. I am currently going for my seventh year as a school counselor at Wade Carpenter Middle School.

In my free time, I focus on self-care, where I enjoy exercising outdoors and spending time with family; I like to spend most of the time hiking and out in nature.
I'm excited to meet you and I look forward to seeing you soon.
